The Cheesman Student Debt Reduction Scholarship supports African American and Hispanic/Latino first-generation college students—whether currently enrolled or already graduated—who are working to pay off student loans. Even if you're no longer in school, you’re eligible as long as you're still repaying student debt.
Applicants should share their educational journey, goals, community involvement, and accomplishments, along with how this scholarship would ease their financial burden and help them move forward. Strong candidates will demonstrate ambition, financial need, and a standout presence on Bold.org.

The Hines Scholarship supports minority high school and undergraduate students with a minimum 2.0 GPA who are pursuing a college degree. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by underrepresented students, this scholarship aims to help overcome barriers and empower recipients to break cycles of poverty through higher education.

Internships
Investment Intern
Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is offering a part-time, on-site Investment Intern position for the Fall 2025 semester at their Brookhaven, Georgia, location. This internship provides valuable hands-on experience in investment management within a leading pediatric healthcare system, making it an excellent opportunity for students pursuing degrees in finance, accounting, economics, or related fields. Interns will assist with analyzing investment portfolios, conducting market research, supporting investment strategy development, and preparing reports for senior management. Candidates should have strong analytical skills, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and good communication abilities. This role offers practical experience, networking opportunities, and exposure to the financial operations of a major healthcare provider. Graduate Study in France
The Lafayette Fellowship is a prestigious program designed to support up to 30 exceptional American students in pursuing one year of master's-level study in France. Launched by the French Embassy in the U.S., Villa Albertine, and France Science, the fellowship aims to cultivate the next generation of transatlantic leaders with a strong interest in global challenges. The program is open to both Francophone and non-Francophone candidates and partners with leading French academic institutions across various disciplines, including STEM, humanities, social sciences, and the arts. Courses are taught in French or entirely in English. Fellows will benefit from a year-long series of activities, including masterclasses, site visits, and opportunities for mentorship. The fellowship offers full funding, covering tuition, living expenses, travel, program activities, and administrative costs. Applications are open until November 30, 2025, for the 2026–2027 academic year. Candidates must apply for admission to one of the partner institutions and complete a separate Lafayette Fellowship program application. The awarding of the scholarship is conditional upon admission to one of the partner institutions. Application materials include a transcript, cover letter, resume, personal statement in a video format, and three letters of recommendation. Candidates will be evaluated on their academic history, leadership potential, and dedication to and understanding of the French-American relationship. The program strives for a representative cohort in terms of students’ backgrounds, academic disciplines, individual projects, and geographic representation across the United States.
Conference
The Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minoritized Students (ABRCMS) is the largest U.S. conference for historically excluded students in STEM. It provides opportunities for students to present research, network with peers and professionals, and explore graduate and professional school options. The conference typically takes place in November. Details for the 2025 conference will be available soon. Interested individuals can sign up for notifications to receive updates when applications become available.
Volunteer Opportunities
United Way of Greater Atlanta is a nonprofit focused on improving education, economic mobility, and health in the region through a variety of volunteer programs. Volunteers can assist at the Hunger Action Center by sorting and packing food, supporting literacy through virtual reading programs like Book Buddies, helping low-income families file taxes through VITA, and assisting students with FAFSA applications. Seasonal initiatives such as the Season of Giving invite volunteers to prepare and donate essential items for those in need. For those interested in leadership, the Volunteer Involvement Program (VIP) trains volunteers to serve on nonprofit boards. Additionally, there are engagement groups like Women United and LINC that focus on community impact. Many opportunities offer flexible schedules and virtual options, making it easy to get involved in a way that fits your availability. Bridging the Gap (BTG) Community Outreach is a nonprofit based in Newnan, Georgia, dedicated to supporting individuals and families in need by providing food assistance, case management, hygiene and household supplies, durable medical equipment, and basic services like hot meals and showers. They offer flexible volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups, with minimum age requirements varying by activity, and volunteers need to sign up in advance and agree to a waiver. Their mission is to feed, serve, and restore the community by connecting people with essential resources and support to help them regain stability and self-sufficiency.
The Atlanta Humane Society (AHS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the welfare of animals through adoption, education, and community programs. They offer a variety of volunteer opportunities, including roles in animal admissions, foster care, shelter medicine, dog walking, community outreach, photography, special events, and administrative support.
